Polly's Subtitled & Chaotic

Referring back to yesterday's post my apparent schizophrenic dress sense has its issues. While sensible, hard wearing boyish clothing is needed for all sides of scouting, I can hardly be expected to do my chores or even tend to the garden in clothing that'll be needed for the weekend's activities so that leads to the need for different practical clothing. Interviews, functions, weddings, good days, bad days, you name it. They all require different uniforms.

Take all of the above and multiply them by four and you have a bad case of CHAOS! To the recipe add the fact that I'm a hoarder and am still finding bits that can be given to the two year old next door, the fact that I've changed size several times over the past 10yrs and the boys and my partner have grown through several sizes too and it gets worse.

Storage has always been a problem. I don't have built in wardrobes rather two singles and a supposed double wardrobe designed for persons of the Edwardian era. I don't have chests of drawers, rather three overhead lockers, two drawers, a set of four drawers and those tiny drawers in bedside cabinets. All in all I've a problem. Yep, I also have mice in the airing cupboard/hotpress! They come in every winter and we've been trying to stop them for the past seventeen years...

You'd think that as a scout I'd be able to put a stop to the winter invasion, afterall, I'm supposed to be resourceful, aren't I? I've got my ultrasonic device, mousetraps, and poison (most successful at killing) but they still come in by the dozen. We've sealed off any visible holes, used hard board and expanding foam and still they manage it!

Hopefully this year won't see them adding to the CHAOS which is on its way to being much reduced as I'm working on my hot-spots, swishing & swiping, decluttering and organising despite the madness which surrounds me. LB was kind enough to errect my latest pine shelving. Destined to replace the dexion shelving in my shed, they have remained in the hall for a couple of weeks now. Rather than whinge about how people won't help me, I simply used them as a storage place for my towels. This has turned out to be quite a success with members of my family actually replacing towels in the bathroom if muggins here forgets!

At this stage in my life I've got to admit to being slightly mad. I must be to live in such a chaotic household with a family who appear to think I'll do whatever if they don't. Recently I took a couple of days off, to recover from slaving myself into an early whatever. The result? A somewhat cluttered and untidy kitchen! And?

Yes! The guys had to clear it away. Loading the dishwasher after unloading it appears to be beyond them all. Only on Saturday having worked from 8am till 9.30pm with about an hour off for lunch I sat and watched the subtitled Young Inspector Montalbano - such hard work, I think not!

Polly, The Smart Phone & Blogging - Or Not As The Case May Be!

I've had such a long break from posting I'm really struggling with how to get back into it. So, without any further angst I have simply jumped back in by typing the last two sentences! Wow, that wasn't so hard, was it? (Breathes a sigh of relief...)

I must apologize to anyone out there who has clicked back to this blog every now and again to see if I've finally posted. I do that with a number of blogs that I love and have been soooooooooh very disappointed to witness the sorry state of recurring absences. I must be a glutton for punishment, given the number of times I've done exactly that. Eventually like any sane person, I will give up as no doubt some of my regular readers have done in my case.

Personally speaking, I blame the advent of the Galaxy SII. I've always yearned for such a luxury, even in the days when luxuries of this type were only available in futuristic sci-fi movies. So, you can imagine how chuffed I was when my cell-phone (mobile) provider contacted me and offered me my hearts desire. Best of all, it didn't cost me a red-cent! Oh yes, I jumped at the offer.

That said, I grilled the poor girl on the other end of the line. I'd only upgrade if I could get an I-phone or something similar. In the end my choice was significantly reduced to the Samsung Galaxy II, due to the fact that it would support office! Guess what I did on Christmas day? Blah, blah, blah...

Anyway, the long and short of this post is that I wish to apologize for being a crappy blogger. I kind of got distracted. It's too easy to go surfing when you've got Wi-Fi and a hand held computer to facilitate. Waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy toooooooooo easy! Oh yeah.

Sadly, one of the few things that isn't easy to do is blog from it. I know that countless others can do exactly that, however I can't. I find that the touch screen, even with SWYPE is just too hard on my hands to do much more than site hopping on the internet and writing the odd e-mail.

Even the simple act of viewing my favourite blogs on a daily basis can become too much for my delicate little pingies. It's repetitive strain, you see?! Seriously though, that is exactly what it is; probably on account of the ridiculous number of favourite websites and blogs I like to trawl through at a time. For those of you in the know, I believe this may constitute something of a problem.

Addiction? Or not! Who's to know? One thing I can tell you is that my physician agrees that persons with Fibromyalgia tend to be more at risk of hurting themselves accidentally during the carrying out of their everyday lives. What does this have to do with posting though? Pretty much everything.

CHAOS! Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome is deadly. It can affect everyone, particularly those who are
not Born Organisers. In my case I've always been slightly disorganised, but since being unwell things have got slightly carried away when I was hiding beneath the bedcovers feeling sorry for myself.  This is due to an overwhelming lack of storage and the over bearing excess of belongings.

My computer desk has become a place to keep my neatly folded clothing. BTW I also store my shoes beneath it and two bolts of upholstery fabric beyond that! The nice thing is that I can admire them on the rare occasion I clear my desk and give myself access to my computer screen and keyboard.

The upholstery fabric is now residing on my sofa in the sitting room, fulfilling yet more dreams! One is a lush crimson coloured velveteen and the other is similar only it's a beautiful shade of creamy yellow with cream and red stripes through it. They compliment one another nicely and are the stuff that dreams are made of. They also frustrate me no end, considering that it must be all of nine years since my trip to Material World in Athlone. Still, one day...

What Colour is your Soul Painted?

Hi there! Here's a little something I came across while browsing through some of my favourite blogs earlier this morning:

What color is your soul painted?

Red

Your soul is painted the color red, which embodies the characteristics of love, strength, physical energy, sex, passion, courage, protection, excitement, speed, leadership, power, danger, and respect. Red is the color of the element Fire, and is associated with blood, life and death, birth, volcanoes, and intense emotions.

Many thanks to Janice at Serial Crafter & Forum Junkie whose blog I came across thanks to the magnificent Craft Journal site; Janice is a regular contributor there.

The reason I was browsing the Craft Journal site is because I am the lucky winner of their monthly "Stash Giveaway"! Being somewhat curious and a little excited, (translates into impatient) I just had to check it out to see what I might have won. If last months prize is anything to go by, I should be very pleased when my postie finally delivers it; sadly, today is not the day.

If anyone reading this, out there in the 'Blogosphere' has more than a passing interest in crafting; maybe you could subscribe to The Wizards Crafts Chat"n"Swap Forum-Worldwide. If anyone is interested please click here to follow the link and join up. At the moment it is planned to close this site on the first of December, due to overwhelming competition from other more established forums. Wouldn't it be great if we could all club together and prevent this from being necessary?

On an even more sombre note; my new online friend Fly Lady has difficult times to cope with at the moment. It seems that her sister, Paddi is extremely ill; in intensive care to be precise. I have received a couple of e-mails asking for support in the form of a prayer dedicated to her recovery.

Considering the support Fly Lady has offered to so many, in terms of assisting our escape from CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome); I think that this is a nice way to offer her our thanks. I realise that some might consider it a bit cheesy; however, the power of prayer is vastly under rated.

If anyone has encountered a publication called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, they would be very much aware of the philosophy which underpins its phenomenal success. The Secret is simply the power of positive thinking; the law of universal attraction. There are many who would equate this radical new concept as being very much akin to good old fashioned prayer, & leading a spiritual life!

Another example of positive thinking/prayer can also be found on the Fire the Grid website. A very good friend of mine introduced me to this some time ago. Unfortunately, that same friend is in the habit of sending trivia; I didn't open her e-mail in time to participate in what was shaping up to be a worldwide event. I am pretty sure that it went ahead a planned and I do hope that the world is a better place as a result.

To find out more about Fire the Grid follow the link and be patient; what follows is quite a lengthy series of video presentations. They are interesting and certainly thought provoking, well worth watching ...

I'm off to perform my version of Zone 3 now, I've already given the bathroom a quick swish on my way through and now I'm going to finish tidying up my PC. It's amazing how much quicker things are going; now that I have done my 27 fling boogie on all those duplicated files and spam!

I'm going to love you and leave you now, please say a little prayer for Paddi, and for everyone sick in hospital at the moment...

All my love

Pollyx
