Greasy Mother Cat's Failure...

Despite the fact that earlier this morning I stated that I was just off to have a shower I find myself sitting here at the computer station typing away several hours later! The road to hell is paved with good intentions, or so they say! If that is the case then I must be well and truly on my way to hell...

When I wake up in the mornings; before I even open my eyes I wonder just what the day will hold for me, whether it will be a good day and whether or not I will feel okay, or will it just be another one of those days. This is not a nice way to wake up.

To make matters worse; one of the first indications of how the day will go is the gritty feeling when the backs of my eyelids scratch off the cornea. Thankfully it's not written in stone that this should herald a bad day, and it can often be misleading. Once could say that if this is the case then it should be considered to be a nice surprise...

Needless to say this morning started off in exactly this fashion, the alarm clock quietly heralding the new dawn while the alarm function on my Nokia mobile phone attempts to dance its merry way to the edge of the dresser which serves as my bedside table. A black cat stretches out, luxuriating in the glories of my greasy hair splayed out on the pillow, obviously he considers me to be something of a mother figure.

Before long I realise that it is indeed time to get up. DG is snoozing beside me; but not for long. He remarks on "...how that cat seems to like lying in your hair!" We both laugh, disturbing the creature who hops up onto the dresser and attempts to drink from my pint glass of water; DG brings my attention to this just in time. After all, I only take the water to bed with me so that I can take my medicines at bedtime and in the morning, and I am not fond of sharing my glass with the animals.

DG should have been away long ago. He rises slowly and dresses with difficulty. His thumb is damaged; an injury from preparing the dinner last night! Despite my interjection; he'd insisted on preparing a second onion for inclusion in our dinner. I hope that the red stuff on the chopping board was only the juice from the peppers I had chopped earlier...

Foolishly I had offered to dress DG, considering that his thumb was rendered pretty ineffective at this stage. The combination of the huge dressing and the pain of pressure applied awkwardly serving to handicap the poor man considerably. When finally he managed to dress himself, having refused my offer of help he managed to stumble off down the hallway and out to the car for his long drive to work.

Meanwhile, forgetting all about the cat for the moment I woke BB, and attended to his needs. Breakfast, lunch, Dequacaine, paracetamol and tissues for his streaming nose. We delivered his headache and sore throat to the bus stop in the village just in time to see the mini-bus arrive at the holy grotto, opposite the village green. I swung the car around and did a u-turn, narrowly missing a blue van which had just turned the corner and was heading in my direction; I really should be more careful.

Back home, in just a couple of minutes it's time for round two with LB. Tilley Two almost knocked me over in her haste to get outside; running straight into the back of my knee, bouncing off it and continuing on her way oblivious of my plight. Breakfast, lunch, new shirt, sweatshirt and socks for LB. A second quick run to the village and back home again, this time not narrowly missing any kind of vehicle; I learned my lesson the last time!

Once home pottered around in the kitchen for a while, made some more tea and prepared a bowl of gluten free muesli; which is very good for the mind, body and the jaw, providing plenty of exercise and sharpening of the teeth. While the tea was brewing I whipped up a load of washing and replaced the contents of the washing machine with it, out to the line to make the best of the good weather and then back indoors to load the dishwasher and route around in the freezer for something good to eat for tonights dinner. It's a shame I could only find crubbeen's.

With ALL this done I take myself off to the computer and promptly settle there for the rest of the day. I have found some amazing websites which I have promised myself I will revisit time and time again, mainly on how to get the best out of my beloved computer. My hands are frozen, my hair is still greasy and I am no closer to the shower than I was all that time ago; when I promised myself that I'd only spend fifteen minutes or so on the damned thing!

Still, I've tidied away in the kitchen, got loads of clean delph, and also tidied the bathroom and cleaned the fixtures too. Maybe today hasn't been too bad, after all! I just need to get myself organised and go to counselling for my addiction...
