Polly's Frail Body

The sad truth about poor old Polly Peirce is that she is still trying to come to terms with the fact that she is not, nor has she ever been Superwoman! I realise now my physical frailties may from time to time limit my activities.

This is why I treated myself to every girls best friend; a battery operated cordless drill and screwdriver. It drives me potty when perfectly healthy people borrow it and then forget to re-charge the battery for me!

You can imagine my thoughts when asked to help BJK with a small task involving screws can't you? Grrrh!

I spent yesterday morning consulting with plumbers and lengths of wood; having first removed them from the walls; this is a courtesy extended to a man who would have done the job in less than half the time...

While all this was happening I alternated my attention to the
job in hand, and another very special job. My name is not David Bailey; nor Linda McCartney for that matter. No; it is plain old Polly Peirce; but I am an aspiring photographer.

I had set myself the delightful task of photographing my Mom's scaly skin; no she's not a dragon or a snake, but she does have eczema/dermatitis. It seems that every time BJK sees her GP about this unsightly and painful affliction; it suddenly gets worse - some times I wonder if it's an allergic reaction to spending €50.00; just to get a foot in the door...

"Jus' like thah!" said Tommy Cooper; one of our old time favourite comedians. Out with the camera, off with the flash and straighten out those finger's so everyone can see 'em. I'm quite pleased the plumber was working on the new radiators; the body shots will just have to wait...

"I've found a website in America where you can send in a sample of hair for allergy testing. It's in America!"

"Ah, yes! My friend Mel can do that for you; and he's only just up the road."

And so began the next part of our adventure...

Those hands look so painful. I go through tons of hand cream as upholstery is not kind to the hands. But I won't complain in future.

Painful, itchy and unsightly is the word! At times they look more like sausages than fingers.

The good news is that the Calendula ointment sans lanolin as prescribed by my friend Mel is definately having a positive effect on them.

I think we bought the health food and chemist shops out last week, maybe we should buy some share's in them...

No do not use lanolin!
Why, because it is the made from the oil in sheeps wool. Generally most eczema sufferrers are alergic to wool and wollen garments being next to the skin.

Calendula is the best cream for all skin types.

Hi Mel!

We took the one with lanolin back to the shop! Honest...
