Polly's Dandelion CD

Just for a change, I decided this morning to have a go at the Daisy & Dandelion Challenge Blog. The idea is that you follow, or rather interpret a sketch of a card, yes, I know it sounds a bit odd...

The idea behind it is that sketches like this are good for folk like me who sometimes suffer from card maker or scrapper's block. While this is true, thankfully I am more likely to suffer from blogger's block than the former.

This sketch came in handy for entirely different reasons, with the main impetus being the prospect of winning some lovely Daisy & Dandelion Blog Candy (freebies.)

In this case, the sketch was published on the Daisy and Dandelion Blog by Erica Martyn. The only catch is that one is expected to display her blinkie in the side bar of ones blog! Wow, that'll be hard to do...

Actually, I do love Daisy and Dandelion. They are nice big, clear stamps and have recently been released by Do-crafts, one of the biggest craft manufacturer's in the UK. The nice thing about this range of stamps is the fact they are versatile and come with a variety of images associated with the two main characters.

To date, I have used these two lovable reprobates on Mother's Day cards and also Birthday cards, however there are countless possibilities. In this instance I have actually turned the sketch upside down, this isn't for aesthetic purposes, rather sartorial; as I'd managed to leave behind a little bit of unwanted paper following the initial layout session. As this was clearly visible beneath the black organza ribbon, I simply turned the sketch upside down and the problem disappeared - just like that!!!

The result? Fun, practical and hopefully Funky, (all I can say is that my friend loved it, so now we just hope that her teenage daughter agrees!)...

All the best for now, I'm off to bed cos I've an early start in the morning! Night, night.

Vinca Cards

(Edited 10/4/09 @12.56) ps A few days ago I came across another remarkable blog challenge, again offering some cool blog candy. This time I was definitely going to enter it, went away, made my coloured card and promptly forgot all about Crafty Goings On: Blog Candy With A Twist. Argggh!

The twist is that Karen is generously offering a whole 72 COPIC marker's to the lucky winner. "Oh wow!" I hear you say, "What's the big deal?" Okay, the answer is this: Simply put these markers are new on this side of the pond and they are the next big thing in permanent markers. They are also hellishly expensive and I want them - NOW!!!! So there...

The good news is that by stumbling across this contest, largely due to Sandie, I have found a distributor in this neck of the woods and that with Sterling almost on parity with the Euro, I may just be able to save up and buy them one at a time!

Sadly the contest closes today, and I might just be too late. I'm hoping that by April 10th, ie Good Friday she means midnight. Finger's crossed! Px
