Polly's Support

Thanks to everyone who was thinking about LB and his team mates at Leonard's School of Gymnastics on Sunday. For anyone who has just tuned in; LB and the boy's were competing at the Third Men's National Gymnastics Championships which was held at The Phoenix Gymnastics Club, De La Salle College, Dublin on Sunday 25th May.

On Saturday morning TilleyTwo took me for a nice long walk on the Curragh; while we were waiting for an extra training session to draw to a close. There was a lot of activity as the Races were on later that afternoon and TT was very excited when the racehorses passed us by; I had a firm grip on her collar and she just whined her greeting to them. They are truly magnificent beasts; although they can be a little skittish at times, so I was delighted that madam was so well behaved.

After training it was time to wrap LB in cotton wool, upon L's instructions. L's face had fallen when he heard that LB was going to stay the night with Jackamac! The two lads wouldn't get any sleep; and they wouldn't be fit to represent the club the next day! It's amazing how a little reassurance from two anxious mum's can calm a man down...

Some time later and a belly full with a huge hot chocolate from Costa; (complete with whipped cream, marshmallow and a chocolate stick) LB and I went shopping. It was time to pay the Debenham's card and of course we had to go to the craft shop. Next came the hair cut, the drive home and a frantic dash to get dinner ready, showers x 2, washing in and out, rush back up to Newbridge and finally to bed at 1.30 (mum's that is) in readiness for the big day!

Jackamac & LB were up early; a large bottle of Poweraid for breakfast and a guided tour of the house for LB who couldn't wait to get out onto the big trampoline out the back. We all had an early enough breakfast and then it was time to hit the road, with me in hot pursuit, Jackamac and his parents skillfully negotiated the lanes as we sped towards the venue.

With hindsight; I realise that I should have taken my map of Dublin with me. The downloaded map from the Phoenix gym was blurred and difficult to read, and I lost Pa (Jackamac's dad) at the traffic lights...
