Polly Insomniac

"Woo who!" I guess that this week has been my lucky week; after all I appear to have won the first series of Desperate Housewive's on DVD. The competition; sponsored by Bailey's was run on the discount coupon site Pigsback.

Needless to say I was delighted to receive the e-mail announcing my success while knee deep in sick computer syndrome the other day. At the time I paid little head to the e-mail as it kept flashing one botton right hand side of my screen; the stakes were high and I had been infiltrated, so I had to pay attention.

Once the little crisis was sorted out and the machine re-booted I was pleased to read the e-mail at my leisure. Having spent a fortune recently on developing film, this was just the lift I needed. Having said this I went on to attend a number of interesting events this week; almost oblivious of my success...

First of all LB had his school trip; which was lucky to be described as okay on Wednesday. This meant that he missed his usual gymnastics training. In the middle of my viral crisis I received a text from Leonard of LSG enquiring whether or not LB would be attending. Mortified that I had been remiss enough to be distracted by the virus problem; we agreed that LB would attend another class on Thursday instead.

Wow! Big Deal! Well, yes it was. Until the Men's Nationals were over LB hadn't received any coaching on the community games routine and the Finals were due to take place on Saturday!
Well; Saturday came and went with LB carrying home yet another medal. This time it was a gold medal!

Unfortunately, it was a hollow victory as the other competitor in his class frankly left a lot to be desired. The National Community Games finals will be held in August of this year which will allow LB to tune up his floor routine...

Prior to the last competition a good friend of mine wished LB lots of luck keeping his mum calm with his routine. How little did I know? Having survived the big one I found myself getting bored with not sleeping yesterday morning and rose at 5am; which was infinately preferable to lying in the bed listening to DG's breathing! Inspired by my boredom I got up and went off to my shed/studio to make some cards.

Check out the results which I uploaded onto my shop this evening...

ps. Needless to say that with or indeed; without all the excitement I am truly exhausted. Sleep deprivation is never much fun; but hey, I think I caught up with it this afternoon...

Well done on the gold medal. No victory is hollow - it's a great success and definitely adds to the participation. And to the motivation come to that!
I love your Alchemilla Mollis photo. Mine is just about to be in its full glory in the garden. Lovely time of year, June.

I remember being so pleased when I won a swimming gala at around the same age as LB. I still have the trophy; maybe I should have it engraved some thirty years later?

In later years I realised that there hadn't been any serious competition for me. I used to attend a swimming club in England and the local kids here went once a week during the summer!

LB on the other hand performed so well, it's a joy for me to see him realise his dreams; especially as I had undeveloped potential in this field too!

At least I can help him with his training - a teeny weeny bit...

Thank you for the compliment about the Lady's Mantle; it's one of my all time favourite flowers/foliage plants. I'm still waiting for the blooms to come this year...
