Polly Cellular

One of the many things which captured my imagination while journeying through both Spain and France were the troglodyte dwellings, many of which have been converted into hotels.

This is Hotel Sidi Driss, which was originally uploaded by tangoNovemberbravo earlier this year. It puts me in mind of my beloved Jupiter's Travels by Ted Simon; the guy who rode around the world on his motorbike in the early '70s.

Other people reckon that it is somewhat Star Wars-ish, either way it makes an interesting subject for a photo, doesn't it?

I've been trying to remember the name of those caves (since I wrote a post on increasing natural light in dark halls!). Aren't they amazing - we visited some in the Loire many years ago. thanks for jogging my memory.

It's funny how things pop up and take you back isn't it?

I got the only good nights sleep in one of these caves, during a heatwave in Spain; all because there was no light, sound or heat. A constant 18C winter & summer with built in sound proofing; which is brill when you're next to a motorway!!!
